OUR ENGAGEMENT

For those of you who haven’t heard the story of our engagement here it is …..

Brett & I went to Cape Town for a relaxing weekend. We had been going there frequently so it wasn’t out of the norm. We arrived late on Thursday evening & from the very start there were curve balls ….
Brett’s phone wouldn’t turn on & kept on giving him a sim card error. I couldn’t understand why he was so upset about it & suggested he divert all calls to my phone. Brett was insistent that he needed his phone for work & he had Gareth Jones running around in Durbs couriering his twin sim to Cape Town.
On Friday he spent quite a bit of time on the verandah & on his phone but I presumed it was all for work. He was actually on the phone to the jeweller confirming the ring was complete & arranging for it to be couriered to Cape Town.
On Friday evening we had booked into our favourite restaurant Hai Kui and Brett suggested we go up Table Mountain before hand. I loved the idea & we got dressed & headed out. Despite having been on the internet checking the winds & weather in Cape Town we arrived to find it all closed up.
Brett then suggested going to Signal Hill for sun downers. We headed to Camps Bay to buy some drinks only to find that Camps Bay is a dry zone & there are no bottle stores! We then settled on sundowners at Caprice in Camps Bay. We had a couple of cocktails soaking up the beauty surrounding us before heading out for dinner.
Driving to Hai Ku Brett suggested stopping at a beautiful point over looking Clifton for pictures. The ‘Tommy The Tourist’ in me was very keen & I was out of the car in a flash. Whilst I was snapping away I hadn’t realized that Brett had got onto one knee & when I turned around he had my sparklie in one hand & asked his princess to marry him ….
I was totally blown away and actually took quite a while to give him an answer. My first reactions were … Brett, if this is a joke, it isn’t very funny ….and … Have you asked my Dad ….
Of course I said yes & the rest our our evening was a whirlwind.

I was over the moon & very proud to be the fiance of such an incredible man.
